Why do sensory systems not relay the environment objectively?
The above statement is true for the olfactory system as well. Please describe how "reality is distorted" in this system.
Sensory system consists of sensory receptors, neural pathways and parts of brain involved in sensory perception. Commonly arranged sensory systems are those for vision, hearing, somatic sensation, taste and olfaction.
Sensory system not relay the environment objectively because the olfaction or smell is associated with the brain and not with vision. so unless the sense of smell will be there vision will not affect the process,so the reality is distorted.
sensory organs that respond to innocuous stimulation perform two important task for the organisms.1) detecting a physical stimulus that reaches one of its sensory organs 2) Communicating that information to the sensory nervous system where extraction of useful information occurs.Sensory system is the part of nervous system responsible for processing sensory informations. sensory system consists of sensory neurons, neural pathways and part of brain involved in sensory perception.
sensory system not relay on environment also because of the sensory neurons which are responsible for converting external stimuli from the organisms environment into internal electrical impulses. For Example sensory nerves responds to tactile stimuli and can activate motor neurons in order to achieve muscle contraction.
Sensory nerves can be damaged from traumatic injuries, infections, metabollic problems inherited causes and exposure to toxins. One of the most common cause is diabetes. This all how sensory system dont relay the environment objectively.
