You will soon find yourself fulfilling roles in organizations where the ability to think ethically about issues will make you much more valuable to employers. In this activity you will refer to the materials in your text and lectures to respond to the questions.

Part A

The questions in Part A refer to the material discussed in Module 1 of this course. Respond to the following.

  2. Discuss the ethical concerns that have surfaced regarding information technology and property rights.
  3. Why is it important that companies have a good understanding of the relationship between blame and moral responsibility?

Part B

The various reasons due to which ethics are an important part of the organization are:

1. Increase consumer confidence

When the organization follow the ethics it increases the consumer confidence since the ethical organisation ensures satisfied consumers as far as products are concerned , and also it ensures that organization is fulfilling its social and environmental responsibility adequately.

2. Eliminates Lawsuits.

Organizations properly ensuring consistent execution of policies dealing with accusations and harassment minimize the occurance of Lawsuits for the organization as no organisation is exempted from lawsuits if the customer claims discrimination.

The various ethical concerns that have surfaced regarding information technology and property rights are:

1. Privacy

The Information Technology enable us to find any relevant information online and thus have exploited the privacy the users have thus leading to misuse of data by the fraud people through the various social networking sites and also various other methods.

2.Misuse of Copyright

Information technology has made it very easy for the users to easily gain access and share the data with others thus they can easily get free music , files downloaded easily and thus harming the original creator of these works as anyone can buy the original content once and submit it in the free downloading site for the other users use  .

3. Cyber crimes

Information technology misuse by the hackers have led to various cyber crimes like through the use of personal details the various frauds online purchase and also the transfer of funds is done.

1. Ensure responsibility.

When the organizations are aware regarding the relationship between the blame and moral responsibility they are then more responsible towards their responsibility to consumers , employees and society.
