Select the most accurate ranking of metallic character among the elements.

Group of answer choices

Rb > Mo = Re > Te > Pb

Fr > Fe > Zr > Sb > Ne

Ne < Sb < Fe < Zr < Fr

Ca < Ba < Fr < K < Li

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer: Option (3) i.e. Ne < Sb < Fe < Zr < Fr is correct answer.

Reason: As we move from left to right across the period of periodic table, Metallic character Decreases whereas As we move from top to bottom across the group, Metallic character increases. So, Here Ne is an element present on upper-right side of periodic table having no metallic property Hence, least metallic. Sb is in metalloid category having more metallic character than Ne. Fe is in mid of periodic table hence, more metallic than Sb. Zr is much more on left side of table showing more metallic character than Sb and Fr being most metallic but radioactive so uncertain.

Option (1) i.e. Rb > Mo = Re > Te > Pb is wrong because Te here is shown to be more metallic than Pb but actually Te is a metalloid having less metallic properties than Pb which is a metal.

Option (2) i.e. Fr > Fe > Zr > Sb > Ne is wrong because here it is shown that Fe is more metallic than Zr but actually Zr is more metallic than Fe.

Option (4) i.e. Ca < Ba < Fr < K < Li is wrong because Li here is shown to have most metallic character but actually Li is less metallic than K and Fr.

How will changes in arterial PO2 impact ventilation? Select the one most accurate response. Group of answer choices Small changes in arterial PO2 will result in fine changes to VE in order to maintain relatively stable arterial PO2. Arterial PO2 will not affect ventilation unless it drops below 60mmHg. O2 cannot cross the blood/brain barrier, thus cannot interact with central chemoreceptors to have an impact on ventilation. Breathing 100% O2 at atmospheric pressure will greatly reduce the urge to breathe.

Interindustry competition means that: Group of answer choices in most industries there are usually a number of firms producing identical products. in oligopolistic industries a few large firms compete with one another in bidding down product price. firms that sell a product at one stage of production are faced with firms that buy the product at the next stage of production. in some markets the producers of a particular product might face competition from products produced by other industries.
