A bottle of concentrated aqueous perchloric acid, labeled 70% (w/w) has a concentration of 11.6M. What iis the density of 70% (w/w) HClO4?

Solutions

Expert Solution

70% (w/w) HClO4 solution means 70g of HClO4 present in 100g of solution

molarity = W*1000/G.M.Wt * volume of solution in ml

11.6           = 70*1000/100.46*volume of solution in ml

volume of solution in ml = 70*1000/100.46*11.6   = 60ml

mass of solution = volume of solution * density of solution

density of solution = mass of solution /volume of solution

                               = 100/60   = 1.67g/ml

density of HClO4 is 1.67g/ml >>>>answer
