  1. Determine the products formed when following solutions are mixed. Predict the solubility of the products. Write the balanced formula equation. Write the balanced total ionic and net ionic equations, if there is/are any reaction(s). Write NO REACTION if there is no reaction. If both products are aqueous, there is no reaction.

A. BaCl2(aq)+K2SO4(aq)=

B. Pb(NO3)2(aq)+NaBr(aq)=

C.Fe(NO3)3(aq)+KCl(aq)=

Solutions

Expert Solution

(A) K2SO4 (aq) + BaCl2 (aq) → 2 KCl (aq) + BaSO4 (s)

Ionic: Ba+2(aq) + 2Cl-(aq) + 2K+(aq) + SO4-2(aq)-->BaSO4(s) + 2K+(aq) + 2Cl-(aq)

Net ionic :Ba+2(aq) + SO4-2(aq)-->BaSO4(s)

(B) Pb(NO3)2 + 2NaBr → PbBr2 + 2NaNO3

ionic : Pb2+(aq) + 2NO3-(aq) + 2Na+ (aq) + 2Br− (aq) → PbBr2(s)↓ + 2Na+(aq) + 2NO3-(aq)

net ionic Pb2+ (aq) + 2Br− (aq) → PbBr2(s)↓

(C)  Fe(NO3)3 + 3KCl = FeCl3 + 3KNO3

Practice it by yourself !! (break each ion)

For writing solubility product , consider this reaction aA(s) ⇌ cC (aq) + dD (aq)

only aqueous products are written , solid are ignored

Ksp = [C]c[D]d

For (A) Ksp= 1 / [Ba2+][SO42-]

Similarly do for rest !!
