Identify and discuss in 80 to 100 words (each) at least three advanced technological functions from a range of software applications (desktop publishing, word processing and spreadsheets) which could help you to manage the design and development of business documents. You should not use any of the functions which you have used whilst undertaking any of the activities within this unit. Provide examples of your use of each function .Uploada file 7 mb max. Three advanced Technological functions from a range of Software applications(Desktop publishing,Word processing and spread sheet):
Desktop publishing:
Desktop publishing is the creation of documents using page layout skills on a personal computers primarily for print.Desktop publishing software can generate layouts and produce typographic quality text and images comparable to traditional typography and printing. This technology allows individuals, businesses, and other organizations to self-publish a wide range of printed matter.Desktop publishing is also the main reference for digital typography. When used skillfully, desktop publishing allows the user to produce a wide variety of materials, from menus to magazines and books, without the expense of commercial printing.
Desktop publishing combines a personal computer and WYSIWYG page layout software to create publication to documents on a computer for either large scale publishing or small scale local multi function peripheral output and distribution.Desktop publishing methods provide more control over design, layout, and typography than word processing.
Examples of Desktop application:
Word processing:
A Word processor is an electronic device or computer software application that performs the task of composing, editing, formatting, and printing of documents.Word processing was one of the earliest applications for the personal computer in office productivity, and was the most widely used application on personal computers untill the world wide web rose to prominence in the mid-1990s.
Although the Early word processor evolved to use tag-based markup for document formatting, most modern word processors take advantage of a graphical user interface providing some form of what-you-see-is-what-you-get("WYSIWYG") editing. Most are powerful systems consisting of one or more programs that can produce a combination of images, graphics and text, the latter handled with type-setting capability.Typical features of a modern word processor include multiple font sets, spell checking, grammar checking,a built-in theasaurus, automatic text correction, web integration,HTML conversion,pre-formatted publication projects such as news letters and to-do lists, and much more.
Examples of Word processor:
Spread sheets:
A Spread sheet is an interactive computer application for organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form.Spread sheets are developed as computerized simulations of paper accounting worksheets. The program operates on data entered in cells of a table. Each cell may contain either numeric or text data,or the results of formulas that automatically calculate and display a value based on the contents of other cells.A Spread sheet may also refer to one such electronic document.
Besides performing basic arithmetic and mathematical functions, modern spreadsheets provide built-in functions for common financial and statistical operations.Such calculations as net present value or standard deviation can be applied to tabular data with a pre-programmed function in a formula.Spreadsheet programs also provide conditional expressions, functions to convert between text and numbers.,and functions that operate on strings of text.
