1. Explain Windows IOT and other embedded systems

Windows IOT:

· Windows IOT (Internet Of Things) is an operating system developed by Microsoft for using in embedded systems. It enables data transfer over the internet.

· It has multiple editors. It provides security.

· Can handle huge work loads and the results can be stored in that particular device or can be stored in cloud.

· Applications – Dover uses Windows10 IOT in fueling stations.

Other embedded Systems:

· An embedded system is designed to perform a specific task or single application.

· It includes Symbian for mobile operating system, embedded Linux, Android for mobiles, Penpoint Os etc.

· These are resource efficient, reliable, real time control systems.

· Embedded systems can be of 4 types namely Real time embedded systems, Stand alone embedded systems, Networked embedded systems and Mobile embedded systems.

· Applications- Home appliances, Aerospace

2. What is NIX embedded OS?

            NIX is embedded Linux. NIX OS is bases on the NIX package manager. It is suitable for embedded applications requiring a guaranteed response in a predictable manner.

3. How do you patch embedded OS?

· Data base of the embedded OS should be reviewed regularly.

· Less security is the major issue faced by an embedded OS. So this should be considered during the design phase of the embedded OS.

· Bulky patches in the embedded OS required software updates.

Vulnerabilities in the embedded system should be identified and fix it ontime.
