1. Marijuana has been legalized in several states. Some people believe this has resulted in an increase of impaired drivers on the road and that traffic fatalities have increased as a result. While some drug tests taken at the scene of accidents do indicate the presence of marijuana, such tests only reveal that the drug has been used -- they do not indicate actual intoxication, as indicators of marijuana use can stay in the system for days or even weeks after actual use. This is unlike alcohol, where a roadside test is a clear indicator in most cases of intoxication. What are some likely ethical issues arising from such testing? If people are using marijuana for medical reasons, they will most likely test positive for the drug's presence all the time, yet they will need to be able to drive. How can a "legal limit" be reasonably set if intoxication is not measured by certain tests?
Marijuana is one of the abused Drugs; It comes from the Indian hemp plant. It is commonly known as weed, herb, pot grass, Ganja, etc. Its flower is known as buds that commonly contain the drugs. There are approximately 400 chemicals found in Marijuana buds. CBD(cannabidiol) in marijuana has medicinal properties as well. THC(tetrahydrocannabinol) is the chemical that gives the effect of high and medicinal as well.
A person starts consuming the drug in a smaller quantity and it starts increasing as the need to become high increases. The effect of the drug is instantly felt by dreamy and unrest state of mind, increased heart rate, it requires hardly 30 minutes for a person to feel high that can last for 2 to 3 hours or even longer. To reach the high state number of consumption increases and the person becomes addicted to it. Marijuana is having a negative effect on the consumer especially adolescents because the effect of marijuana also depends upon the age, genetics, and history of marijuana abuse.
It is listed in schedule I (C) drug because it is highly abusive. Still, not much research is done on the properties of Marijuana. Medically Marijuana is used for nausea in cancer patients, the two chemicals that have the medicinal properties are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). (THC) is highly addictive in nature.
Medically it is used in treating 1. Appetite loss, 2.Eating disorder, 3. Alzheimer's disease, 4 Epilepsy,5. Crohn's disease, 6. Glaucoma, 7. multiple sclerosis, 8.pain, etc.
Still, the extent of its benefit is not fully researched and found out. It reduces anxiety, inflammation, relaxes tight muscles and helps cancer patients to reduce pain after chemotherapy.
Medicinal marijuana is legalized in 33 states in the US, and many states have allowed medicinal Marijuana for restricted use only.
Marijuana for medical use is available on the prescription from the licensed medical practitioner.
Alcohol can be detected by a detecting instrument by the authority or taking the sobriety test, like standing one foot, lab test of blood, saliva or urine. The drunk driver shows slurred speech, memory problems, and confusion, He would try to tell lies that he is not drunk and try to run away.
The effect of Marijuana is long-lasting; it can remain for hours or days together. If the driver has taken the drug one or two days prior to driving he can still show a positive result. Marijuana is used as medicine as well; if the driver is caught using drug then he will be charged for driving under the influence of drugs.
These types of people should carry with them the doctor's prescription and for what the medicine is being used.
The effect of drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs is one of the many reasons for road accidents. Alcohol and Marijuana affect the mind and one is not able to recognize that he is not driving safely. It can be fatal for the driver and his companions as well as for the pedestrians.
Life is very precious for everyone the rule should reasonably strict so that they would think twice before witting on the driver's seat.
