describe the difference between the principles of transduction, absolute threshold and difference threshold
The absolute threshold is the minimum amount of stimulation which needed for an individual to detect a stimulus 50% of the time. The absolute threshold can vary based on many factors: these factors could be internal or external. These factors could be motivation, physical condition, or other sensory stimulus.
The differential threshold is the smallest amount of difference which is required for a person to detect a difference between two stimulus 50% of time. The webers law states that the detection of differential threshold is not based on the absolute amount of change, but it is dependent on the constant percentage of change between two stimulus. The differential threshold is also known as the just noticeable difference.
An example of Absolute threshold could be the lowest volume of sound we could hear, and an example of differential threshold is smallest amount of change in the volume of sound we could detect.
