Cancer is genetics but is not inherited. This means that all cancer cases happened due to damages of the DNA but it will not be passed into future generations, what do you think? Yes or No and Why? [Write two paragraphs]

Please don't use older questions that are posted .. If you going to write it, please be as neat as possible. "Two paragraphs needed". Thank you in advance!

Answer : No,

Cancer may happen due to damaged DNA or it can be inherited from parents.

Tumors are caused by mutations which are alterations in the DNA sequence of a cell. These modifications alter normal cellular programs. Most cancer is sporadic/happening by chance or they can be hereditary. About 10% of cancer is hereditary. Hereditary cancer can happen when someone has a mutation which has a spelling error in a gene whose job it is to protect the body from cancer. In these people the gene may no longer work as it should, and this can cause someone have an increased chance of developing certain cancers.

People that inherit the mutation will have an increased cancer risk since they already have the first mutation. Thats why we call this type of mutations as hereditary mutations

You understand that the built-in gain on inherited property escapes taxation in almost all cases because (i) relatively few Americans die with estates large enough to attract the federal estate tax and (ii) beneficiaries receive inherited property with a FMV basis (not to mention the minor detail that inherited property is automatically long-term). What is your view of this specific aspect of the federal income tax system – i.e., the treatment of inherited property?

Genetics What are some causes of cancer? Cancer can arise spontaneously, but can also be induced as a result of environmental factors such as sun exposure and smoking. If you were in charge of allocating resources for cancer prevention, would you emphasize research on curing cancer, or education about cancer prevention? Explain your answer. Although tobacco smoking is responsible for a large number of human cancers, not all smokers develop cancer. Why is this? Pick a specific tumor suppressor gene...

In this discussion you will explore the role that genetics play in cancer. What role do these genes, and one gene in particular, normally play in cell division, and what happens when they gain mutations? This will help you better understand the molecular and cellular basis of cancer. You should spend approximately 3 hours on this assignment. Instructions For your initial post, you will choose a gene that is commonly mutated in cancer (Gene Assignments: RAD9, C-KIT, EGFR, P53, HER2,...

Biology Unit II Homework - Cancer and Genetics Introduction In order for organisms to grow, repair, maintain, and reproduce, cells undergo cell division. Sometimes, cells uncontrollably divide, resulting in cancer. In the first part of the Cancer and Cell Division Lab, you will learn about normal cell division and will compare it to cell division that occurs in cancer cells. You will then visit a website to find out more information about cancer. You will learn why it occurs, why...
