(1 point) Find the p-value if you are conducting a χ2-left tailed test based on a simple random sample of size 11, and if the test statistic is χ2=6.5.

The p-value is

Solutions

Expert Solution

We have given

n = 11

We have given test is left tailed test

df = degrees of freedom = n - 1 = 11 - 1 = 10

p value using Excel

Select empty cell ( box ) form the excel and type

=CHIDIST( 6.5 , 10 )

Do not forget to type the = sign in excel

Then press enter

You get the right tailed test p value

Right tailed test p value = 0.771653

We use formula

Right tailed test p value + left tailed test p value = 1

Above formula is only applicable in Chi square distribution

because chi square distribution is right tailed distribution

0.771653 + left tailed p value = 1

left tailed test p value = 1 - 0.771653

Left tailed test p value = 0.228347

Answer :

P value = 0.228347

P value using Ti - 84 or Ti - 83 calculator

Press " 2ND " key ........> Then press " VARS " key ............> select "x2cdf"

Lower : 0

Upper : 6.5

df : 10

x2cdf(0 , 6.5 , 10 )

Then press enter

You get p value as 0.228347

Answer :

P value = 0.228347

I hope this steps help you :)
