NIMS is teh comprehensive approach that brings together government, private sector, and nongovernment organizations to work together during domestic incidents. NIMS provides a flexible framework that facilitates government and private entities at all levels working together to manage domestic incidents. This flexibility applies to all phases of incident management, regardless of cause, size, location, or complexity

NIMS is not Just for Large-Scale Incidents, rather it is flexible and can be used for incidents of any type, scope, and complexity.It allows its users to adopt an integrated organizational structure to match the complexities and demands of single or multiple incidents. NIMS prompts the use of ICS for every incident or scheduled event. Using ICS on all incidents helps hone and maintain skills needed for the large-scale incidents. Incidents for which NIMS can be used are in Hospital and health care system , fire rescue, terrorist attack etc.

A real life example is an EF-5 tornado leveled the town of Greensburg, Kansas. Kansas Governor Kathleen Sibelius and President George W. Bush both declared Kiowa County a disaster area. This meant that both State and Federal resources would be coming into Kiowa County to assist the local government officials and responders with response activities

In the above situation the Juridistion i.e Kiowa country managed the activities in response to torando, Kansas State Department of Transportation coordinated all transportation-related support, the private sector helped in ensuring the movementof people and material in continued response.
