1) Grashof condition:
The sum of shortest and longest link lengths in a four-bar linkage must be greater less than or equal to the sum of lengths of other two links. This condition ensures the shortest link to act as a crank.
2)Toggle position:
In a four-bar mechanism, when toggle position is reached, the linkage will not allow further input motion in one direction from one of the rockers.
3) stationary position:
This is the case where two linkages in a four-bar mechanism come to a straight line position.
4)Transmission angle:
It is important to know how a mechanism will function under given loading conditions. this is defined as the force component tending to move the driven link divided by total force applied to the driven link.
5)Minimum transmission angle:
The minimum and the maximum values of the transmission angle will be when when the crank and the fixed link are collinear in extended or folded positions.
6) Cam mechanism:
Cams are machine elements used to convert given motion into the desired set of motion. Like rotary motion into translatory motion etc. for example, cams used in IC engine valve openings, rotary motion is converted to the oscillatory motion to open and close inlet and outlet valves.
7) S-V-A-J diagram:
SVAJ diagram is a mathematical function that is used to define or identify the motion of the follower as a function of time.
S-Displacement
V-Velocity
A-Acceleration
J-Jerk
8) Given S-diagram how to say velocity is changed.
When we draw S diagram, the slope of the displacement line defines whether velocity changed or not.
