For the discussion purpose, we have picked up the “Tata Motors ADR” which is publicly traded. The company is a car / vehicle manufacturing company and have a great acquisition of JLR, so application of Management Accounting System (MAS) is of great importance to the company. The three areas of actively implementation of the MAS are:

  1. The decision regarding the inputs like materials and labors. The reduction in the input costs and proper use of the input for the uninterrupted production, the use of MAS is very necessary. The previous data and data from the industry could help the management to have cost saving decisions.
  2. The MAS could be implemented while doing the acquisitions of the company inland and abroad and for both organic or inorganic acquisitions. Through the management accounting, the proper valuation of the acquisition is possible, making it economically worthy and giving maximum returns to the owners’ equity.
  3. Pricing the products could a place where the company is utilizing the MAS so that more and more competitive prices are being set of the products. Using the “learning effect” and innovated cost reduction processes, the use of management accounting will define the price of the products which have a stand in the market being competitive one.

The use of MAS should not be limited to the products or operations, but also to well-being of the employees and implementing their benefit programs. Where the management accounting could evaluate the cost-benefits to the employees and get maximum returns to owner’s equity.

A manufacturing companies like Tata Motor, could use MAS for the benefits of the society at large by creating disposal methods of the wastages in the social-benefit manner. The use of management accounting will help in evaluating the socio-environment effects of the company and its operations.
