Compute the mean weekly wages of the 65 employs working in a factory from the given frequency table, using the coding / short cut method?

Compute the mean weekly wages of the 65 employs working in a factory from the given frequency table (X is in K =1000's), using the coding / short cut method?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution:

Using the short cut method (S.C.M) to calculate the mean weekly wages. Formula:

 x̅ = A + hd barA + 1/N (∑fidi) . h

Let Assumed value (A) be equal to 8.5.

A = 8.5

Since data is in continuous series class width, h = 10.

Also,

N = ∑fi = 65

Proceed with S.C.M:

Thus, the determined mean weekly wages by S.C.M is:

79.77 ≈ 80 K

The determined mean weekly wages by S.C.M is:

79.77 ≈ 80 K
