Question 4 (Total marks 30) Nguyen and Nugyen (2020) studied the audit expectation gap in Vietnam. Read their study and answer the following questions. a. Describe the audit expectation gap? b. The research methodology section of the paper states ‘qualitative research is combined with quantitative research’. What information do the authors provide about how they undertook the qualitative part of the research? c. What additional information could be added to the ‘data collection’ section of the paper to provide useful information to readers? d. What extra information could be added to make Table 1 and its discussion more understandable? e. What are three improvements/additions that could be made to the conclusion section of the study? Appropriate use of in text referencing and a reference list that follows Harvard referencing.
According to Accounting principles, the records of financial statements should be fair and true. As we know that companies raise fund from fund and public only invest in those companies where they can trust. To make the financial statements trustworthy , companies do auditing. So the primary goal of the auditor is to state companies financial statement true and make those information transparent to users.
a) Audit Expectation gap is the distinction between ' what the users of financial statements expect the auditors to do and what the auditors believe their obligations are'. Gap simply means space. So, here its a space or difference between the expectation of what users had about auditors duty and what auditors believes their actual responsibility.
b) Qualitative research is describes as one of the naturalistic research where the researcher makes the study more natural and seeks in depth understanding of social phenomena. By using this method, the author focuses on 'WHY' rather than 'WHAT' happenend.
c) In data collection section, the researcher should state the reason of conducted study , the aim of particular study. The researcher also include how he/she collected the sample and what procedure used in writing. The researcher should present the result accompanying the tools.
d)The author should present the result usually with tables and graphs. By providing tables with proper data make a common person understands it. So use proper language and mention the details of table and graphs in breif as intrepretations.
e) In conclusion, review the result with the original problem. Assess the success of study you conducted as compared with your objectives. Suggest steps for further study
