Question

In: Chemistry

the speed of gamma radiation is higher than lower than same as visible light

the speed of gamma radiation is higher than lower than same as visible light

Solutions

Expert Solution

In the electromagnetic spectrum, Gamma rays are the most energetic, with frequencies of 3*1019 Hz.

By the definition itself, visible light means we can see light and it has frequencies ranging from 4*1014 Hz to 8*1014 Hz.

Gamma rays wavelength : 10-10 -10-12 cm

visible light wavelength : ~ 10-5

Wavelength : Visible light > Gamma Rays

Frequency : Gamma Rays > Visible light.

Therefore the speed of Gamms rays is greater than Visible light. Because frequency means the no of waves passing through a point in a particular time (say in 1sec).

Please look at the electromagnetic spectrum of all the radiations and their corresponding properties.

Thank you and good luck.
