An aqueous solution of C6H12O6 has a mole fraction of 0.0445 for C6H12O6 in water. Calculate the Molarity of the solution. The density of the solution is 1.09 g/mL
Here,
Mole fraction of C6H12O6 = 0.0445
Assuming total 1 mole of the solution
Moles of water =1-0.0445 = 0.9555
We have,
Molar mass of water = 18 g/mole
Molar mass of C6H12O6 =180 g/mole
Therefore,
Total mass of the solution = (18 x 0.9555) + (180 x 0.0445) = 25.209 g
Now, Density = Mass/Volume
Therefore,
Volume of the solution = Mass/Density = 25.209/1.09
= 23.1275229 mL = 0.02312 L
Molarity = 0.0445 g/0.02312 L = 1.924 M
