1. HIPPA
DEFINITION: It is an act for health insurance portability and accountability that provides security and privacy to the data of medical information.
APPLICABILITY: It is applicable in every workplace.
EXAMPLE: confidentiality of PIH (Personal Health Information)
2. OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS
DEFINITION: They are the hazards that happen at the workplace.
APPLICABILITY: At a construction site, agricultural site, industries, factories, health care facilities and service sectors.
EXAMPLE: Falls from a construction site; and crush, burn, cuts etc. from any industrial equipment.
3. RACE AND ETHNICITY EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY
DEFINITION: It is the research study on a vast group that is inter-related or different in race and ethnicity.
APPLICABILITY: In the field of medical research, scientific research projects, cultural research study or population study.
EXAMPLE: In California, the percentage of ethical and racial groups has reached 43% in 1990.
4. ETHICS IN EPIDEMIOLOGY
DEFINITION: It is the moral obligation for not harming the participants either psychological, physically or socially in an epidemiological study.
APPLICABILITY: Researches in public health etc.
EXAMPLE: Voluntary participation and anonymity in epidemiological studies; informed consent and confidentiality of PIH.
5. PROTECTING PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
DEFINITION: It is the protection of information and having control over circumstances, timing and extent to avoid any physical, mental or social harm to a human being.
APPLICABILITY: Service sectors and health sectors
EXAMPLE: Protection of PIH of a patient in a health care setting.
