Values in the table below are approximate. Use these to answer the following questions and to compare health impact of the two diseases.
R-naught |
Incubation period |
Contagious Period |
|
COVID-19 |
2.5 |
10 days |
2-3 days before symptoms to 10 days after |
Rabies |
1.5 |
Several months |
From symptoms to 10 days after symptoms |
Recall that R-naught is the average number of additional cases that directly result from a single person bringing it into a fully susceptible community.
Below, compare in the impact between the two diseases for each of these disease characteristics on public health. For each question, use only the information provided in the table.
a. What does the R-naught suggest about the relative public health risk for the two diseases?
b. What do the differences in the incubation period suggest about potential challenges in clinical and public health responses to the two diseases?
c. What do the differences in the contagious period suggest about potential challenges in clinical and public health responses to the two diseases?
d-e. What are two other important aspects of the disease, besides access to vaccination, that would contribute to different health risks for these diseases?
A.viral disease are caused by viruse and its replication, that will be a transmitted disease and have the power to pass the infected antigen to one another rapidely. Corona called novel corona-19, rabbies are best examples to that. In each these viral disease have a multiplicity rate of viruses in the infected stage.
You can see a in the picture shown above, a term R-naught which is a medical term used to define the multiplication or replication rate of virus in each disease. There is 2.5 rate specify for corona and 1.5 for rabbies which means viral multiplicity is that much higher in corona and it has heavy transmission power to cause infection to one another in within 19.days, whereas rabbies is also powerful but not much as corona virus, it may be take incubation period months to months.
B. All viral disease have a birth period or time in living organisam, clearly saying a perid in which a viral antigen makes its full growth in affected body much enough to spreadout causative agent but has not come out as symptoms with related disease.
In novalcorona viral disease this time is very short and fastly transmitts to other person. Viral replication takes place rapidly and transmits fast.As it is not shown a disease or illness related symptoms there is greater chance to spreading out this viral infection
C.Both rabbies and corona has potential to community spread, but in the case of raofbbies it is due to direct touch to body particles or blood of infected person may be leading to transmission of diseases. So there is less chance to community spread.
Whereas it is in the case of corona virus, this transmits via air or within body touch or withn area of a infected persons lives, that is why this got a greater chances to transmits to socity or to public health.
D.there are good vaccination to rabbies and treatments avialble, and less chances of transmission and infection
But not vaccines are properly brought out for Corona, as it is airbone disease with less sign and symptoms, it become crusial to prevent this viral antigen from transmitting.
