Create a plot comparing the force applied to an object versus the angle at which the force is applied. Alos, plate describe the graph in paragraph form.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Let us consider a Unit force (1N) is applied on an object. If we are considering applied force suspend an angle θ with respect to the reference (viz. displacement etc.), them resultant force on an object w.r.to reference is given by FR = FA cosθ, where FR is force experienced by the object along Reference and  FA is force applied on the object.

A graph is plotted between different values of θ for constant applied force.

Graph Interpretation:

1. When θ = 0, Resultant force FR = FA (applied force)

2. When 0 < θ < 90, with the increase θ, FR decreases.

3. At θ = 90, FR = 0 ( since cos90 = 0)

4. Between 90 < θ < 180, FR becomes opposite to FA.

5. At θ = 180, FR = - FA.

6. Between 180 < θ < 270, the magnitude of FR will decrease but will remain in opposite in direction with FA.

7. At θ = 270, FR = 0 (since cos 270 = 0)

8. Between 270 < θ < 360 (= 0), FR increases and become maximum along FA.

Newton's 2nd law says that when a larger force is applied to an object of mass m, the object will experience a larger acceleration. At the same time, you've learned that all objects experience the same acceleration in a free fall, even if their weights (the forces of gravity acting on them) are different. That sounds like a contradiction: on one hand, from the Newton's 2nd law, a larger force means larger acceleration, on the other hand when applied to...

Starting at time t=0, net force F1 is applied to an object that is initially at rest. If the force remains constant with magnitude F1 while the object moves a distance d, the final speed of the object is v1. What is the final speed v2 (in terms of v1) if the net force is F2=2F1 and the object moves the same distance d while the force is being applied? Express your answer in terms of v1.
