The primary aim of the framers of the constitution was to amend the loopholes that existed in the articles of the confederation. They thought this was necessary for the feature unity and solidarity of the union. They hoped to strengthen the relationship between states by introducing the executive branch to ensure the implementation of laws, national courts to interpret laws and a congressional system of tax collection. In doing this, they hoped to avoid the disintegration of the union.

Yes, I think they were successful. This is because the constitution laid a system of checks and balances that contributes to effective governance. Also, they left rooms for amends in the constitution. This has enabled the constitution to adapt to more changes and expansion of American rights.
