Suppose that 60% of registered voters support candidate A. A pollster will obtain a random sample of 200 registered voters. What is the probability that at least 126 of the individuals in the sample support A? Do not employ a continuity correction.

Solution :
Given that,
p = 0.60
q = 1 - p = 1 - 0.60 = 0.40
n = 200
Using binomial distribution,
= n * p = 200 * 0.60 = 120
= n * p * q = 200 * 0.60 * 0.40 = 6.93
Using continuity correction ,
P(x > 126) = 1 - P(x < 126 )
= 1 - P((x - ) / < (126 - 120) / 6.93)
= 1 - P(z < 0.87 )
= 1 - 0.8078
= 0.1922
