The Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test scores are normally distributed with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. What is the probability that a person score would be grater than 140?
Solution :
Given ,
mean = = 100
standard deviation = = 15
P(x > 140 ) = 1 - P(x< 140 )
= 1 - P[(x -) / < ( 140 -100) /15 ]
= 1 - P(z <2.67)
Using z table
= 1 - 0.9962
= 0.0038
probability= 0.0038
