Which of the following best describes the function of standardization of the EKG machine?

To set machine timing

To determine whether the machine is set and working properly

To check for artifacts

To determine the correct placement of chest electrodes

Solutions

Expert Solution

Option 2 - To determine whether the machine is set and working properly - prior to running of EKG the machine should be checked for its proper functionality and determining its functionality helps in standardisation of EKG.

EKG (electrocardiogram) is used to measure the activity of heart though electrical signals that are represented in the form of waves. It is carried out using a machine called electrocardiograms and before using and recording response standardisation should be done to check for its working status.

Later when it is functioning properly while recording the thing to observe is to set machine timing, to check for artifacts, to determine the correct placement of chest electrodes

While running the electrocardiogram, it is started with placing electrodes on the left side of chest and on the fleshy part of arms and legs. While recording the patient is instructed to not to talk during process and not to move
