Explain the differences between beer, ale, wine (red and white), brandy, and scotch? What effect does alcohol have on the body and why was alcohol more important, health wise in the early history of man than water? Why is alcohol a problem in our society today?

Beer is brewed most commonly from malted barley.The process of making beer is known as brewing.The purpose of brewing is to convert the starch source into a sugary liquid.This sugary liquid is known as wort.This wort is converted into beer by the help of a fermentation process by yeast.For fermentation brewers yeast is used.Beer is the third most popular drink in the world.The mash ingredients which means the materials used to produce wort in a beer is the key determinant of the strength and flavour of the beer.The most common starch sorce or the mash ingredient used in beer is malted grains.Beer is measured by bitterness,strength and by color.

Ale is a type of beer .It is prepared by using warm fermentation method.In ale a mixture of herba or spices are biled in the wort before fermentation.It is sweet and have a fruity taste.Different types of ales are there.Thyey are brown ale,pale ale,indian pale ale,golden ale,scotch ale,cask ale,burton ale.

Wine is made from fermented grapes.By adding yeast it consumes the sugar and cnverted into ethanol,carbon di oxide and heat.Wine is of two types red wine and white wine.White wine is made from green or yellow grapes pulp .Red wine is made from the red or dark color grapes and by the process of extraction of color and flavour .components from the grape skin.

Brandy typically contains 35 -60 % alcohol.It is produced by distilling wine.After distallation the unaged brandy is placed into oak barrels to mature.The mature brandy is mixed with distilled water to reduce alcohl concentration and bottled.

Whisky was orginally made from malted barley.All whisks must be aged in oak barrels for atleast three years.The minimum bottle strength is 40% alcohol by volume.

Effect of alchol on body

Effect depends up on the age ,weigh and gender.Short term effects means the liver can metabolize only on edrink per hour.More than this may cause trouble concentration,loss coordination,mood swings,raised blood pressure,vomiting..Too much drinking over years may cause long term effects include liver fibrosis,oesophageal cancer,alcoholic hepatitis ,stroke,high blood pressure.

Effect of alcohol in society

The increased use of alcohol will be highly affect the family and the society.Consumption of alcohol cn lead to violence and aggression inside the family and community.This will affect the childrens mental ability and economical ability within the family.Alcohol will increase the amount of serotonin and endorphins.Use of alcohol will increase the risk of accidents .When on e has an impact of alcohol abuse it can affect the marriage and their extended family life.There will be a higher impact on the schools,community and on then society.
