For Stem-Leaf Plot, Firstly arrange all records in increasing order
And then group the numbers according to tenth digit place (i.e. 1,2,3,4) which will be stem and that will give groups according to 10's 20's 30's and 40's.
And in leaf we will have all units digits of all groups in increasing order.
Thus making two columns table (Stem and Leaf)
2 | 1 means 21 |
Stem | Leaf | ||||||
1 | 4 | 7 | 8 | 9 | |||
2 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 5 | 8 | ||
3 | 0 | 3 | 4 | 4 | 5 | 5 | 6 |
4 | 0 | 2 | 4 | 6 |
Analyzing this plot and creating five point summary(20 records) -
Minimum Value | 14 | |
Lower Quartile() | Median of Lower Half (below Q2)=Average of 5th and 6th term | 21.5 |
Median() | Average of 10th and 11th term | 31.5 |
Upper Quartile() | Median of Upper Half (above Q2)=Average of 15th and 16th term | 35.5 |
Maximum Value | 46 |
Inter Quartile Range(IQR) = = 35.5-21.5 = 14
Lower Fence = = 21.5 - (1.5 * 14 ) = 21.5 - 21 = 0.5
Upper Fence = = 35.5 + (1.5*14) = 35.5+21 = 56.5
