Pioneer Castings, Inc. is realizing it's employee turn-over is
rather high. Furthermore, the management is also wondering if the
rates are the same between Men and Women. To find out the details,
it randomly picked a sample of men and women and recorded the
number of years each stayed with the company. Given this dataset,
can we conclude that the men and women have the same tenure at the
company? Use level of significance = 4% everywhere.
Run the appropriate T-test (using Excel and Explain the steps).
Output to Cell D33.
Q5 What is the P-value?
Q6 What is the Level of Significance?

Enter the data correctly from cell A1 to B160 with the labels.
Steps: Go to data, select Data analysis, select t-test: two sample assuming unequal variances, give the variable 1 range as $A$1:$A$160 , give the variable 2 range as $B$1:$B$160, hypothesized mean difference as 0, give the output range as $D$33, check the checkbox of Labels, enter alpha as 0.04, click on OK.
From the output obtained, the following questions are answered.
5.
The alternative hypothesis is two sided and thus the test is two-tailed
The p-value for two-tailed test is obtained as
0.054111833 |
6.
The level of significance is given to be 4% i.e. 0.04
7.
The t statistic is obtained as
1.93316505 |
The critical value for two tailed test is obtained as
2.062288333 |
As the observed value is less than the critical value, we fail to reject the null hypothesis at 4% level of significance and hence conclude that the tenures of men and women do not differ significantly.
8.
The p value is obtained as
0.054111833 |
The given alpha is 0.04.
As the p-value is more than 0.04, we fail to reject the null hypothesis at 4% level of significance and hence conclude that the tenures of men and women do not differ significantly.
Hopefully this will help you. In case of any query, do comment. If you are satisfied with the answer, give it a like. Thanks.
