Contact angle is called as the wetting angle (alpha) .In case of implants it tells how much it has adhered to tissue surface, as contact angle increases means contact between tissue surface and implant is getting lowering. Adhesion properties of micro organisms into a biomaterial (implant) can be calculated by contact angle measurement. Small contact angle and high surface free energy indicate good adhesion properties of that material to body tissues and bone tissues.
In this case contact value 120 indicates that it has loose adhesion between implant and body tissues. So implant is failed. Then a new implant with low contact angle value of 40 with fibronectin is inserted then it get integrated with in 3days. Means it has low contact angle so it adhered to tissues so well, and another point is that fibronectin is collagen binder that also enhance the implant to tissue surface attachment more strong. So implant integrated well with in 3days.
