This question should generate a range of quantitative data - "How many hours of sleep do you get on average?"
I asked 25 people:
1. 8 hours
2. 8 hours
3. 6 hours
4. 5 hours
5. 6 hours
6. 7 hours
7. 6 hours
8. 6 hours
9. 5 hours
10. 4 hours
11. 8 hours
12. 8 hours
13. 9 hours
14. 7 hours
15. 6 hours
16. 6 hours
17. 7 hours
18. 6 hours
19. 4 hours
20. 5 hours
21. 9 hours
22. 8 hours
23. 5 hours
24. 7 hours
25. 7 hours
Calculate the mean and standard deviation of your distribution and interpret their meanings.
Calculate a 95% confidence interval for the mean of your distribution using the t-distribution and your sample standard deviation.

In this case, Mean is 6.52 , which means on an average people get 6.52 hours of sleep.
Standard deviation is 1.42, which means the Average deviation of the individual values from the mean is 1.42.
2. Mean = 6.52
Standard deviation = 1.42 ;
Sample size,n = 25
Confidence level = 95%
Therefore Alpha , = (1-95%)/2 = 2.5% ; Degrees of Freedom = n - 1 = 25 - 1 = 24
For Degrees of freedom of 24 & of 2.5%, the t value is 2.064
The lower limit of confidence interval = Mean - 2.064 * Standard deviation = 6.52 - 2.064 * 1.42 = 3.5937
The upper limit of confidence interval = Mean + 2.064 * Standard deviation = 6.52 + 2.064 * 1.42 = 9.4462
