2. Discuss the differences or similarities in the causes of corruption in government versus business.
2.
There are differences in the causes
that lead to the corruption and sometimes one entity becomes the
corruption in another entity also.
The first cause of corruption in the government is red tapism and
lack of accountability towards the work being delivered by the
government, whereas the one cause of corruption in business is to
get personal benefits in lieu of facilitating the particular
decision. Here, it can be said that poor organizational culture and
lack of ethical practices lead to corruption in the business. The
second cause of corruption in the government is the allegiance and
support of the political parties and lack of transparency in work.
It sets delay in work and people and business pay to quick and
favorable facilitation of work. The businesses also want favorable
decisions in projects where the government intervenes so they pay
bribes and move ahead with favors. It brings corruption in
business. Agency conflict is another cause of corruption in the
business.
Some of the causes are similar in government as well as businesses.
One such cause is the lower salary and wages that propels employees
take the unethical route to earn more. The second common cause is
the lack of regulatory framework in government setup and businesses
that lets employees go out of net easily and continue their corrupt
practices.
