What reforms (labor, industrial, etc.) were the legacy of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire?
The triangle shirt waist fire is the deadliest incident in the history of US.It happened in the Newyork on March 25,1911.The deadly fire caused the death of 146 workers,The factory was in the 8th,9th and 10th floors.The owners had locked the doors to the exit and stairwells,they had to jump from the buildings to escape the fire.
The Newyork state legislature created a factory investigating commision to look into safety measures in this regard and to all the cities.Field agents were hired to do onsite inspection and thirty eight new laws were regulated in the state of Newyork .The state commision reports helped labor laws making New York state one of the most progressive states in labor reform.smoking was prohibited in factories.
New laws brought about fire extinguishers ,better building access,water sprinklers and installation of alarm system, number of work hours .New laws clarified the resposiblity of fire marshall to supervise the fire to supervise the fire drills ,exits, extinguishers where people work .In 1912 installation of automatic sprinklers,fire drills .In 1913 ,fire escapes sanitary conditions and bathrooms.In 1914 regulated hours for childrenand sanitation.The new laws imparted education for workers to use the fire extinguishers.
