1. OUTBREAK : Outbreak is defined as any sudden occurrence of diseases or any dangerous things in a particular geographical area or community. The outbreak may involve one community and extends to other countries or communities. The damage may present from days to longer years which affects the total community people. Example of the outbreak is HIV. In one community area if HIV is infected then slowly it transmits to other parts of the countries and communities called as endemic.
2. HOW TO INVESTIGATE A DISEASE OUTBREAK ?
Investigating the outbreak is important as it spreads from one person to other person like contagious diseases. Some steps are involved to investigate the disease outbreak.They are :
* Identifying of resources and investigating team members using man power, time, money
* Find out the presence of outbreak like smallpox, HIV, chickenpox, etc
* Confirm and verify diagnosis by using of records and reports of that outbreak
* Forming definitions of the case
* Find cases in a systemic way and listing of cases
* Performing of epidemiological studies and develop hypothesis
* Put control measures in action
* Surveillance maintaining
Therefore, the above listed steps can be taken to investigate a disease outbreak in a community area.
