Followings advantages favours the growth of invasive plants;

  • The invasive plant should have the ability to grow in various conditions gives it an advantage that allows it to out-compete native plants.
  • Simple reproduction mechanism, usually vegetative reproduction such as fragmentation allows the invasive spreading of plant.
  • The plants must grow rapidly in their new environment, which is favoured by the lacks of any natural predators or pests.
  • The plant species might become invasive if it can outcompete native species for resources: nutrients, light, physical space, water, or food.
