Solutions

Expert Solution

The Wal-Mart has captured the retail distribution of America since 2000 due to its following strategies, which shines it above the other companies like Target, K-Mart, Sears, etc. :

1) Wal-Mart is the only corporation to press on low-wage labor by discouraging the unionization of employees, import cheaper merchandise of other countries and demand to supply at lower prices from manufacturers and suppliers.

2) Wal-Mart’s uniqueness or stand apart position comes from its radically innovative business strategy like General Motors.

3. Wal-Mart has implemented the sophisticated distribution system and information technology to track inventory, which always improved its efficiency and productivity so the Wal-Mart is more profitable than other retailers.

4. Wal-Mart’s strategy to sell a variety of products at discount prices or cheaper rates has enabled the company to gain greater control of the retail industry. This could be done by demanding manufacturers lower their prices.

5. It has transformed the traditional retail businesses to the standard well-equiped retail marketplace, which is called the Wal-Mart superstore model.

6. Wal-Mart has opened the stores near to distribution hubs and smaller towns strategically, that has became a distinct point of difference from other retailers.

7. Warl-Mart has repidly opened the stores and reach-out to 3,550 stores, which are visited by around 100 million people per week, a big point of difference.

There could be many other points which "Stand Ahead" the Wal-Mart from its competitors.
