Economic Priorities, Challenges and issues for immigrant children:
Immigrant is a person who comes to a country from another country in order to permanently settle there. Immigrant children are one of the main vulnerable group who may face a number Issues and Challenges in their life. Economic priorities , Challenges and issues of the immigrant children are as follows:
Economic priorities:
* Poverty: One of the economic priority of most of the immigrant children are the poverty of their family. Majority of the migration may happen in order search of a better life, job, better economy etc. Some parents may spend, whatever in their hand for migrating; for tickets, for agents, for visa etc. The poor economic condition of family restrict the children from getting good nutrition, safe housing and good education .
* After migration, Many parents might go for daily wage labour despite of their skills and education, in order to sustain or until they get fresh opportunity. Daily wage will not be sufficient for the family's needs. Children might suffer the consequences.
* Economic instability may put parents under stress and alcoholism, it may greatly affect the children of immigrants.
Challenges and issues:
Economic challenges and poverty are the major issue of immigrant children and their families. Other challenges and issues are:
* Disparities faced by racial and ethnic minority groups in major areas, including health care services block the immigrant children to acess fair services from these areas.
* Barriers to acess health care services: Immigrant children may face many barriers to access and afford the necessary medical services . The major barriers are limited English proficiency, low economy, stigma, fear, difference in health care system in country to country, high mobility etc.
* Lack of safe housing and insecurity may make them to settle in slum areas
* Immigrant children may forced to do child labour by the employers of their parents ( in farms , mills, factories) and child abuse.
* Unhygienic condition, pollution and crime are more in slum areas, this inturn affect the immigrant children's health and wellbeing.
* Emotional problems: Leaving their native , relatives and friends may emotionally affect the immigrant children.
* Climate and environmental changes also may negatively affect the immigrant children.
* Lack of health coverage for the immigrant children
* Communicable diseases especially Pandemics and epidemics may deteriorate the health of immigrant children.
