Ratio problem

Three numbers are in the ratio of 3:5:7. If their sum is 840, what are the 3 numbers?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The numbers

3 ,  5and  7  are in the ratio

3:5:7 , but their sum is just  3+

5+7=15.

So to get a sum of

840, multiply through by

840/15

=56

to get: frist part = 56×3=168

 ,  second part = 5×56=280

  and  third part = 7×56=392

There numbers are 168,280,392
