What is an example of using CRISPR-based technology to “knock out” genes to determine their function?
The CRISPR is a technology to exit a variety of different genomes have revolutionised an array of sceientific fields, from genetic & translational research, to agriculture, bio production.
CRISPR -Vas9 technology can be used to edit genes within organisms. This editing process has a wide variety of applications, in the development of bio technology products.
The CRISPR technology can be used for the correction of many genetic dissorders which causes diseases in human being.
Example: Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes
respiratory problems. This technology could help us to get the
origin of the problem by editing the mutations that causes Cystic
fibrosis, which is located in a gene called CFTR. Researchers has
proven that it is possible to use CRISPR in human lung cells
derived from patients with cystic fibrosis and fix the most common
mutations behind the disease. CRISPR technology offers promise to
cure many human genetic diseases like Cancer, Blood dissorders,
Blindness, AIDS, Muscular dystrophy etc.
