Tax policy in US has played a major role in reducing the inequality in US over the years.
The high income groups that earn more than a specific amount of money over the year pay a higher share of their income as pay , whereas the ones that earn less have to pay less tax.
The people that come below the poverty line are not made to pay tax at all.
This way the government has tried to help out the people in distress and reduced the inequality prevailing in the country.
