After a recent political debate, a polling firm did a quick survey of 14 audience members as to whether their opinion of politician X had changed (HA) of the debate. The results: 3 said their opinion of X had not changed, 8 said their opinion had changed, and 3 could not decide. What does the Sign Test at α = 0.10 imply? The sample is small -- exact binomial test is used. (This is a one-tailed test.)
1. State the hypotheses in correct notation and in keeping with the research hypothesis above.
H0: H1: |
2. Define your choice for the test statistic S? 3. What is its observed value?
S = |
S = |
3. Use the Excel binomial distribution function to find the p-value of the test. Type the formula and value in the box.
p = (formula including correct arguments* here) = the value. |
