(a)-Times interest earned ratio
Interest Expenses = $90,000 [$900,000 x 10%]
Times interest earned ratio = (Earnings Before Income Tax + Interest Expenses) / Interest Expenses
= [$153,000 + $90,000] / $90,000
= $243,000 / $90,000
= 2.7 Times
(b)-Earnings per share on common stock
Preferred Dividend = $7,220 [($72,000 / $50) x $5 per share]
Net Income = $129,600 [$153,000 - $23,400]
Number of common shares outstanding = 4,896 Common shares [$44,064.00 / $9 per share]
Earnings per share on common stock = (Net Income – Preferred Dividend) / Number of common shares outstanding
= [$129,600 - $7,220] / 4,896 Common shares
= $25 per share
(c)-Price-earnings ratio
Price-earnings ratio = Market Price per share / Earnings per share
= $50 per share / $25 per share
= 2 Times
(d)-Dividends per share of common stock
Dividends per share of common stock = Common Dividend Paid / Number of common shares outstanding
= $12,876/ 4896 Common shares
= $2.6per share
(e)-Dividend yield
Dividend yield = (Dividend per share / Market price per share) x 100
= ($2.6 per share / $50.0 per share) x 100
= 5.2%
