do you agree or disagree and why?
I do believe a religious affiliation plays a major role in hospital services. Especially when there is a Christian affiliation, there should be a greater emphasis on care for the patient and more values instilled based on Biblical principles. According to Klaus (2014), in a Christian affiliated hospital, “the focus is on the individual, hence the need to provide the best possible care for individual patients” (para.3). As Matthew 5:14 states, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid” (NKJV). This is how an organization that has Christian affiliation should be perceived by the world; a difference can be seen.
I agree that religious affiliation plays a major role in hospital services . But religious faiths are private concerns and are an individuals' belief. We cannot emphasize that only Christian affiliation can provide best possible care.
Healthcare providers must remain mindful, respectful and empathetic of a patient’s cultural or spiritual needs. A number of individuals are calmed and comforted when they turn to their faith during major healthcare trials.(Culturalink,2016)
Research indicates that the religious beliefs and spiritual practices of patients are powerful factors for many in coping with serious illnesses and in making ethical choices about their treatment options and in decisions about end-of-life care (Puchalski, 2001; McCormick et al., 2012).
