MyPyramid’s Basic Messages – Give consumers MyPyramid’s basic messages about healthy eating and physical activity, which apply to everyone. These can be found on the miniposter and the website. They mirror the messages from the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans consumer brochure. For example:

• Eat at least 3 ounces of whole-grain cereals, rice, or pasta every day;
• Go low-fat or fat-free when you choose milk, yogurt, and other milk products and
• Choose food and beverages low in added sugars.

My Plate -

The website features practical information and tips to help Americans build healthier diets. It features selected messages to help consumers focus on key behaviors. Selected messages include:

• Balance calories: People should only eat the amount of calories that the body needs. Physical activity helps to balance calories.
• Enjoy your food, but eat less: The key here is to slow down while eating to truly enjoy the food (and key in to the body’s internal cues of hunger and fullness) and try to minimize distractions like television.
• Avoid oversized portions: If only Americans were better at portion control. MyPlate recommends smaller plates, smaller serving sizes, and more mindful eating.
• Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and fat-free or 1% milk dairy products for adequate potassium, calcium, vitamin D, and fiber.
• Make half your plate fruits and vegetables. Most Americans need 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Few get anywhere near that.
• Switch to fat-free or low-fat (1%) milk. Full-fat dairy products provide excess calories and saturated fat in exchange for no nutritional benefit over fat-free and low-fat versions.
• Make half your grains whole grains (ideally even more than that). This will help to ensure adequate fiber intake and decrease intake of highly processed foods.
• Eat fewer foods high in solid (typically saturated and trans) fat, added sugars, and salt.
• Compare sodium in foods and then choose the lower sodium versions.
• Drink water instead of sugary drinks to help cut sugar and unnecessary calories.

Well, In my opinion i think its a better option to educate Americans on healthy eating habbits as everybody uses internet, computers and also everyone rely on google to find out what ever they need, This option to educate is better way to all the people in America as they can get the information about haelthy diet whenever they want to know. Moreover, This helps Americans to stay fit and healthy , reduce the risk of obesity, heart probelms etc,. and These websites can convey the messages to maximum people .
