What is the primary goal of the vulnerability assessment and remediation domain of the maintenance model? Is this important to an organization with an Internet presence? Why?
The vulnerability assessment is the process using which we can
identify and also find the documented vulnerabilities which are
executed in a physical and in a logical way. The vulnerabilities
and assessment can be non-technical as well as technical. Thus the
vulnerability assessment and remediation domain of the maintenance
model focuses on the identification of the specific and the
documented vulnerabilities and also remediating them in a timely
and proper fashion.
Yes, it is important to an organization with an Internet presence.
This is because for an organization with Internet presence there
will be threats which can harm the applications, and critical data
important to the company. This can cause network issues and also
bring major losses to the organization. The vulnerabilities are the
loopholes which are in the system which can be used by a third
person such as an attacker or hacker who can be responsible for
causing damage to the system. Thus we know that a company with
Internet presence has threats and vulnerabilities and thus it is
important for the organization to have the vulnerability assessment
and remediation of the maintenance model implemented and
executed.
