Poverty and inequality continue to be important issues for our policy makers. Discuss some measures our government may take to reduce poverty and inequality. (Hint: increased expenditure on infra-structure)
Poverty and inequality constantly grow as societies progress and this is evident by the growing income gap between the rich and poor (low income). To reduce poverty, a government needs to be able to generate new sources of income for the population at large that would enable them to be able to fight this state of poverty, essentially generating employment, increasing wages.
The government should also spend the budget in creating movements that lead to literacy in the population which arms the people to fight for themselves in the case of unemployment, essentially providing them with the necessary skills that are required to be able to close the income gap between the populations.
The government needs to spend money on the development of the infrastructure and the facilities for the public that would not allow better functionality for the businesses or the process that is utilizing it but, also generate large-scale employment in the population. With enough governer generated job opportunities and an all-around educated workforce, the government can essentially decrease the poverty and the income gap between the population.
