Think of a problem dealing with two variables (Y and X) that you may be interested in. Share your problem and discuss why a regression analysis could be appropriate for this problem. Specifically, what statistical questions are you asking? You should describe the data collection process that you are proposing but you do not need to collect any data.

Expert Solution

Let we have the data of the scores in mathematics (X) and statistics (Y) of 20 students of a given class. Naturally question will arise if the marks of mathematics and statistics are somehow related and if so, can we predict the score in one subject using the another of a 21st student? These questions are parents of regression analysis.

In this particular problem, we first try to figure out if X and Y are related. As it seems scores of mathematics and statistics should show correlation. But if our data was like:

A: number of deaths due to drowning in beaches in summer

B: sale of ice cream

then regression analysis would be bogus.

two statistical questions one should ask, which i have already emntioned earlier.

The data collecting process is quie simple. We select 20 random students, and the collect thier marks in both the subjects, that's it.

If you have any doubts, or need more elaboration, let me know in the comment section. thank you.

In this problem there are two random variables X and Y. The random variable Y counts how many times we roll the die in the following experiment: First, we flip a fair coin. If it comes Heads we set X= 1 and roll a fair die until we get a six. If it comes Tails, we set X= 0 and roll the die until we get an even number (2, 4 or 6). a). write a hypothesis test problem. Post your problem with a solution. Think about two population means that you may be interested in and propose a hypothesis test problem for this parameter. Your data could be that you spoke with 20 people (10 in Illinois and 10 in Wisconsin) and found the following family sizes: 5, 6, 5, 2, 3,...
