Well diet has had lot of changes since 100 years. Let us try to to go back to 1918. People had raw food more, there was less amount of cooked food. Moreover the ingredients that they used were very healthy ones. Earlier the crops and vegetables grew without fertilizers. Hence they were more healthy. There were very few modes of transport untill 1960 and fast food concept was little emerged. Hence people used to walk a lot and their consisted of minerals, protein, iron than fats. They had a healthy living style.
Slowly around 1980 and 1990 there was huge demand for work culture, people have since then started spending more time in office than home. Their priorities have changed, even women started coming more into work force and the diet plans of people changed. They have started concentrating more on fast food, due to the less time that they get in kitchen for cooking. Exercising is not the priority due to heavy work style. This all has lead to development of many illnesses such as diabetes, cholesterol, other problems which has arisen out of lack of good diet and exercise.
Today fast, fatty or oily food is more accessible. Outside food, street food is quicker and hence issues such as obesity, child obesity are also rapidly developing. Child obesity or child illness due to diet pattern is becoming global concern now.
In world at some places there is abundant food whereas in some countries eg. Countries in Africa there is paucity of nutrition food and children are malnutritioed. This gap somewhere is widening over many years.
