Is there a linear relationship between the obesity
rates and infant mortality for countries
in the Global Health Summary data set? Investigate the relationship
between obesity rates and infant mortality by using StatCrunch and
complete the parts below.
<insert graphic here>
The correlation coefficient r = - 0.71 and the linear relationship equation is
Infant deaths/1000 = 36.66 - 1.15 * obesity %
As we found the value of r = - 0.71 therefore we conclude that there is strong negative correlation between the obesity % and infant deaths/ 1000. As the obesity % is increase then the infant death rate will decrease. Because the linear relation ship is negative between the variables.
There can be gender as confounding or lurking variable. We can illustrate also the infant deaths rate per 1000 males and females separately.
