What does the Hubble Tuning Fork represent?
a classification scheme for elliptical, spiral, and irregular galxies. |
|
the evolutionary path of a galaxy from elliptical to spiral |
|
the evolution of a star into a galaxy |
|
a visual representation of the three galaxy types |
✓ a classification scheme for elliptical, spiral, and irregular galaxies
× the evolutionary path of a galaxy from elliptical to spiral
× the evolution of a star into a galaxy
✓ a visual representation of the three galaxy types
So here if you read about Hubble Tuning Fork diagrams you will know that "it is a classification scheme for types of galaxies observed in our universe". And it observed and believed that it doesn't show evolution of a galaxy. Even Hubble himself denied thst when he was asked about these diagrams. Also, it has nothing to do with a single star. (Read about HR Diagrams and Stellar Evolution). And finally about fourth option, since Hubble Tuning Fork Diagram is a "Morphological" classification, we can figure out the visual appearance of any galaxy from its position on the Fork diagram.
Hence, we have option A and option D as the correct options. While B & C are wrong.
