There is a difference between your theoretical and actual volume of hydrogen gas. Assuming your technique was good and there was no human error, explain the difference.
what would happen if the temperature in the lab room was 44.6 degrees celsius on teh day the experiment was run? calculate the theorectial volume of hydrogen gas, produced from 0.015 grams of aluminum with excess hcl at 45.6 degrees celsius and 9.555 atm to see how the volume is affected by the temperature?
2AL(S) + 6HCl ---> 2AlCl3(s) + 3H2(g)
2 mol Al = 3 mol H2
no of mol of Al reacted = 0.015/27 = 0.00055 mol
no of mol of H2 liberated = 0.00055*3/2 = 0.000825 mol
volume of H2 liberated =nRT/P
= 0.000825*0.0821*(45.6+273.15)/9.555
= 0.00226 L
if temperature T = 44.6 C
volume of H2 liberated =nRT/P
= 0.000825*0.0821*(44.6+273.15)/9.555
= 0.00225 L
volume difference = 0.00226 - 0.00225 = 0.00001 L
= 0.01 ml,
